Bacteriostatic water is sterile water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol —
a preservative that inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the vial to be punctured multiple times over a
28-day period without compromising sterility.
It is the standard diluent used in laboratory and research settings for reconstituting lyophilised
peptide and protein samples.
